I have that song stuck in my head, "Unwritten", the one that they had in the promos for that Diane Keaton movie. I don't like this song too much and the satellite radio has been playing it frequently. Over and over and over I keep singing to myself,
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find.
And then I think, "Good grief, just clean the window already."
I have finished the second sleeve on Mr. GreenJeans. Now I am picking up stitches for the button band and I've discovered that I dislike picking up stitches - particularly with this loosely plied yarn - even more than I dislike casting on a whole whack of stitches.
Here's some yarn I bought a few weeks ago.
It's Araucania Multi in Mountain Sunset. I must admit, I think it's fairly hideous. But it might look great when it's knitted up.
What do you think? It's ugly, right?

I like it! But then again, I've been know to buy things because "it's so ugly it's cute and I had to have it!"

I used to like that song, until they started using it in that hair color commercial. When that woman spins around on the staircase, I just wanna smack her for being so obnoxious.
In the skein, there certainly is a lot going on - but I think you're right. Knitted up, it will look gorgeous!

LOL - I have some Araucania wound into a ball around here somewhere. It does look pretty hideous... but, the samples of it knit up were very nice. Think good thoughts. :)

I bet it will knit beautifully, because always the ones that look pretty in the skein (ahem*lorna's laces*ahem) knit up hideous.

I've only bought the Nature Wool in the Chunky Multy...but I loved it so much I bought 4. I've only knit one up (a hat for me) but I LOVE the way this knits up. Wind this baby into a cake and you mignt not think it's ugly anymore. And then, if it's still ugly, trade it with someone...they say beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.

I think it's terrible that they used the song in a Pantene commercial. I still like it though - it's about so much promise in a person's life - it reminds me of my daughters.

It probably will knit up wonderful. I bought a skein at Rhinebeck that as soon as I saw it I was like wow that is ugly. I bought it and it sat there in my stash for a while (something told me too buy it). I finally pulled it out and starting knitting monkey socks and well the colors are coming out beautiful. I am hoping I will be able to get pairs of socks out of it.

I like the top half of it... the middle looks a bit muddled (but could be very nice once knitted) and the bottom colors? Well, they aren't very vibrant.
I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised in the end! Like clothes that look ugly on the hanger, there's something about putting it on...
