I'm Becca

  • With a Diet Cherry Coke, I can accomplish a lot. I knit obsessively, I read, I work from home as a payroll/account administrator, I home school my kids, I dance around to my iPod, and I do a decent impersonation of a grown-up. I don't have patience, I have faith and that works out pretty well most days. I've got two almost perfect kids. I've been married for 14 years to The Mad Weldor. We are a military family, regularly on the move, often apart, and always thankful that we have each other.

Winners!!! Also, I is for Integer, as in random integer.

Yay!  As I watched my mailbox fill with comments, I started wondering how many comments I'd get.  At first I thought 50 would be kind of neat.  Then I though, hey, this is Wollmeise yarn, I bet I get over 75.  Somewhere around the 90th comment, it occurred to me that maybe I could break 100.

I went and looked at all my sock yarn.  I looked at my 2 Wollmeise drawers.  One smaller drawer full of my most favorite, dearest, amazing skeins that just beg me to cast on right now and make something, anything with them.  And another drawer with a few skeins that are gorgeous, but were bought with the idea of trading or giving away.  I love my Wollmeise yarn.  But I'm not seriously going to knit all of it in the next year.  Errrrr....okay, fine!  I'm not going to knit all of it in the next 2 or 3 years.  Or 5.  Whatever.

Then I read that Claudia, the creator of Wollmeise, has done something bad and painful to her knee and is awaiting surgery.  There probably will continue to be a shortage of Wollmeise for the near future.

I loved watching the comments pour in wishing me good luck and a good move and just general knitterly niceness.  Never mind that so what if some of them have never read the blog before and just want a chance to win Wollmeise.  They could have just put "Pick me." in the comment and still be eligible, but nearly everyone wrote something supportive and positive.

At that point, I knew.  If I got over 100 contest entries that would totally be reason to give away TWO skeins of Wollmeise, right??

105 people entered the "I'm so happy my house has sold that I am giving away Wollmeise!" contest.*

The first name the random integer generator selected was Tamara, from knit Mama knit!  Congratulations, Tamara!  You get your pick of either Lowenzahn, Drachenblut, or Gewitterhimmel yarn.

Tamara gets first choice of yarn, but randomness smiled on our second winner, Jason from Knits With Balls.  He promised to love it, hug it, and call it George.  Jason, you get to pick between whatever Tamara leaves behind.  It's leftovers, I know.  But tasty leftovers!  The kind that are better the next day.

Thank you to everyone who commented.  Knitters are just the best.

*Yes, I know there are 106 comments.  One person had two comments to make sure that I got the proper contact info.

**Also, see how I sneaked that ABC Along entry into the title?  So lame and we're not even halfway through the alphabet.

You are generosity itself! Congratulations to the winners, too.

Had any time to play wordsplay lately?

Congratulations to the winners! I'm so happy for you and your house selling!!! good luck with all the packing and un-packing!

Wow! Thanks so much! You made my day indeed!

Anything is game in those -along groups. Nothing lame at all in using 'I' as integer. Very clever, in fact:) Great contest! Congrats to the winners!

Woohoo! This totally makes my day! Thanks Becca!

Wow...2 winners. You are excited about selling the house. Congratulations to the winners. Now...focus on packing. Make sure the stash is safe when you label the boxes. You wouldn't want that to go missing.

Congratulations to the winners. How great to have Wollmeise coming to your mailbox soon.

Thanks Becca for the contest and for being willing to give up some of your precious Wollmeise. :)

Congrats to the winners!

And damn that random integer generator! It promised to pick me! Guess I should've waited 'til after the contest to sleep with it...

Congrats to all of the winners! I am glad that you had the contest or I might not have stumbled upon your wonderful blog! I heard about poor Claudia, knee/leg injuries take so long to heal and to have to deal with surgery to fix it. My heart goes out to her.

Congrats to the winners! Good luck with the moving. Let me know if you are coming close to Knox. Love to meet you (maybe at a yarn store!)
